These Blooms Don’t Need Water: My Love for LEGO Botanicals 🌸🌿
I’ve got a confession to make: I do not have a green thumb. Like, at all. I’m the person who forgets to water the plant that says it only needs watering once a week. (RIP to the poor succulents that have come and gone from my life…) But guess what doesn’t require watering, sunlight, or special soil and still looks absolutely stunning year-round? LEGO flowers.
Yes, LEGO. My secret to a forever-blooming home and classroom or office space. 🌼
It All Started With an Orchid…
My love for LEGO flowers began innocently enough. I was gifted the LEGO Botanicals Orchid set for Christmas a few years ago and decided to build it one evening. I posted a photo of the final build on Instagram and honestly, I was hooked. Something about the delicate petals, the calming repetition of the build, and the fact that I wasn’t accidentally murdering another houseplant—it all clicked.

Mental Health Meets Mindful Building
There’s something so therapeutic about LEGO. I know I’ve posted before about how much I value mental health check-ins and little moments of mindfulness and for me, LEGO hits that sweet spot. It’s just the right balance of focus and creativity. You follow steps, click bricks into place, and suddenly you have this gorgeous creation in front of you.
It’s also a fantastic activity to do with my kids. My son and I built the LEGO Icons Bonsai Tree together over March Break, and I love that the tree has both green leaves and pink cherry blossom options. We may or may not switch it depending on the season (okay, I switch it, and he helps me find the pieces 😅).

Botanical Beauties Around the House
- In my classroom, I have the LEGO Icons Flower Bouquet sitting proudly on a shelf. It makes a perfect conversation starter—and yes, students ask me all the time if they’re real.

- We have the tiny Botanical plants tucked in different corners of our house: on the bookshelf, by the coffee machine, even in the bathroom for that spa vibe.
- And the Cherry Blossom set lives in a gorgeous 3D-printed vase I had made just for it.

My LEGO Flower “Wall” 🌸🧱
My biggest and most colourful project yet has been my LEGO Flower Wall. I’ve been slowly working on it for almost a year, adding pieces here and there from several flower kits in between work, life, and bedtime routines. It’s finally finished and I’m so happy to have found the perfect place on the wall for it where we can enjoy it every day. It’s been such a joyful project to watch come to life—literally a wall of flowers that never wilt!

Want to Start Your Own Collection?
Whether you’re a fellow plant killer (no shame!) or just looking for a new relaxing hobby, I highly recommend starting with a LEGO flower set. They’re perfect for:
✅ Stress relief
✅ A pop of colour in any room
✅ Techy fun that still feels creative
✅ Time with your kiddos
✅ And yes, dusting is the only maintenance required 😉
👉 Need an easy Mother’s Day gift? Or want to treat yourself to a flower set? Check out my LEGO favourites on my shop here, or visit the “My Favourite Things” page for all of my go-to sets. You may notice that some of the flowers aren’t from the traditional branded LEGO sets. I did use a few off-brand brick kits from Amazon because they were less expensive and in the end I found some of those flowers to be more unique and eye-catching than the name brand. They made perfect statement pieces for the project, like the white lily in the top right corner and the pink flower in the photo below.

Whether you’re building solo with your favourite playlist on, or sharing the experience with your little ones, there’s something magical about watching a bag of bricks become something beautiful. And in this case, something that doesn’t require watering. 😉
